Guarda is a Portuguese city located in the central interior region of Beiras and Serra da Estrela. It is the highest city in Portugal, with a maximum altitude of 1 056 m. It is known as the "Cradle of the Portuguese Language", being the city where the first literary text in portuguese was written.
